Dear Jefferson Research Community,

Research on women’s health has historically been underfunded, leaving many questions unexplored. Looking back on July, Jefferson researchers attacked questions on whether IUDs can be effective for young women with disabilities, and research that challenges established protocol for at-risk twin pregnancies, offering mothers new hope.

We also continue to confront racism in research and beyond, and to pay tribute to minority mental health awareness month. We delved into racism in the context of therapy, and the challenges of grieving loss as an Asian American during the pandemic. These stories from our community are worth a read.

We’ve also had many excellent stories in the media in July, including more of Dr. Crittenden’s work on racism in the media, more coverage of Drs. Giri and Gomella work on genetic testing for prostate cancer, and whether the COVID vaccine will be ready this fall.

Take a read, and get in touch if you have a story to tell, or a manuscript accepted for publication. We’re at edyta.zielinska@jefferson.edu or ResearchNews@jefferson.edu.
